RIO GRANDE, Ohio — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's track and field team turned in a complete team performance over two days, finishing sixth at the River States Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with 73 points.
The Pomeroys were led by senior
Quinlan Teague, who delivered a standout distance double. Teague placed fifth in the 10,000 meters with a school-record time of 39:05.03, earning four team points while posting a top-50 NAIA mark. She followed with a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters in 18:51.06 to add six more points.
Sophomore
Joslyn Young added another record-breaking performance for SMWC, placing third in the 400 meters with an outdoor school-record time of 1:00.17 to earn six points. Young also scored in multiple events, including a fourth-place finish in the high jump (1.47m/4-09.75) for five points and an eighth-place finish in the triple jump, while contributing to both scoring relays.
Senior
Jaci Stone paced the sprint group with a strong championship showing, placing third in the 100 meters in 12.50 seconds to score six points and adding a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters (26.50) for four more. Stone also contributed in the field, placing sixth in the long jump (5.04m/16-06.50) for three points, and ran on the Pomeroys' fourth-place 4x100-meter relay team.
Freshman
Selena Sosa added to the scoring in the 100 meters, placing seventh in 13.20 seconds to earn two points and joining the 4x100 relay that finished fourth in 52.47 for five points alongside Young,
Lauren Majors, and Stone.
Senior
Evelyn Morales delivered a strong meet in the hurdles, placing third in both the 100-meter hurdles (16.16) and 400-meter hurdles (1:07.77), accounting for 12 team points. Morales also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team that finished fourth in 4:13.65, joining Young,
Chloe Field, and
La'Niceon Holman for five additional points.
In the field, sophomore
Callee Riggle led the Pomeroys with a third-place finish in the javelin (35.56m/116-08) to score six points. Freshman
Jacee Cottrell added a point in the same event with an eighth-place finish and recorded a personal-best throw of 26.70 meters (87-07). Freshman
Maylee Wenzel contributed two points with a seventh-place finish in the discus (31.79m/104-03).
Senior
Josie Gettinger rounded out the scoring with an eighth-place finish in the 5,000-meter race walk, earning one point.
The Pomeroys also saw a strong effort from their distance relay group, as
Gwen Garman, Cammie VanGilder, Brooke Mace, and Chloe Field placed fifth in the 4x800-meter relay (10:49.71) to add four points.
IU East claimed the team title with 210 points, followed by Rio Grande (172) and Midway (128.5). IU Kokomo (115.5) and Brescia (79) rounded out the top five ahead of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Shawnee State (35), WVU Tech (14), IU Columbus (14), Oakland City (8), and Kentucky Christian (3) completed the standings.
