Pomeroys Claim Team Title At Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, Ind. — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's track and field delivered a complete team performance Saturday, capturing the team championship at the Anderson Invitational behind balanced scoring across sprints, distance, relays, and field events.

The Pomeroys finished first overall with 115 points, outpacing Anderson (97) and Union (77) in the team standings.

SMWC was led by a standout day from Jaci Stone, who scored heavily in the sprints and jumps. Stone finished second in the 60 meters and second in the 200 meters, while adding points with a fifth-place finish in the long jump.

Distance runner Quinlan Teague delivered a decisive victory in the 3,000 meters, winning the event in 11:05.05 to secure 10 points. The Pomeroys also found success in the middle distances, highlighted by Chloe Field, who placed second in the 600 meters in a facility-record performance and later added points with a fourth-place finish in the 1,000 meters.

SMWC showcased depth in the 1,000 meters, with Gwen Garman finishing second, followed closely by Field, Brooke Mace, and Josie Gettinger. Mace later added points with a fourth-place finish in the mile.

In the hurdles and quarter-mile events, Evelyn Morales contributed key points with a runner-up finish in the 400 meters and a scoring effort in the 60-meter hurdles.

The Pomeroys' field athletes also played a critical role in the team victory. Callee Riggle scored in both throwing events, placing fourth in the shot put and second in the weight throw, while Maylee Wenzel added points in each discipline. Stone and Lauren Majors contributed additional scoring efforts in the long jump.

SMWC capped the meet with a strong showing in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team of Morales, Cammi VanGilder, La'Niceon Holman, and Gaige Goodman finished third to help secure the team title.
