Teague, Relays Power Pomeroys at Rose-Hulman Classic

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's track and field team delivered several standout performances Friday at the Rose-Hulman Classic, finishing sixth overall with 29 points in an 11-team field at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

SMWC was led by a strong showing from Quinlan Teague in the distance events. Teague earned a runner-up finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 19:10.68 to score eight points for the Pomeroys.

The SMWC women also picked up a major scoring boost in the relay events, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 4x200-meter relay. The quartet of Jaci Stone, TeRah Cooley, Lauren Majors, and Genesis Boyd claimed the event title in a time of 1:52.29, earning 10 team points.

Stone contributed across multiple events for the Pomeroys. She advanced to the finals in the 60 meters and placed eighth overall with a time of 8.13 seconds to score one point. Stone also competed in the 200 meters, finishing in 27.72 seconds, and added two more points in the long jump with a seventh-place mark of 4.63 meters (15-2.25).

In the hurdles, Cooley and Boyd both advanced from the preliminaries before scoring in the finals. Cooley placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.07 seconds to earn four points, while Boyd followed with a seventh-place finish in 10.58 seconds, adding two more points.

Additional points came in the field events, where Maylee Wenzel placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 9.87 meters (32-4.75) to score two points for SMWC. Callee Riggle and Wenzel also competed in the weight throw.

The Pomeroys saw solid efforts throughout the meet in the sprints and middle distances, with Majors, Boyd, Gaige Goodman, Jacee Cottrell, Chloe Field, Gwen Garman, Cammi VanGilder, Katelynn Braun, Clara Westcott, and Josie Gettinger all recording performances across the 60 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, and distance events.

Washington University claimed the team title with 163 points, followed by DePauw (135) and Indiana State (96). Host Rose-Hulman placed fourth with 78 points, while Franklin rounded out the top five with 30 points.

The Pomeroys continue the indoor season next weekend as SMWC returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Anderson University Invitational in Anderson, Ind., with competition scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
