MARION, Ind. — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College opened competition Friday at the 121st Annual Indiana Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University, highlighted by standout performances from
Callee Riggle and
Quinlan Teague.
Riggle led the way for the Pomeroys with a third-place finish in the women's javelin, recording a top throw of 34.10 meters (111-11) to earn six team points. She later added a mark of 35.36 meters (116-0) in the women's hammer throw to cap a strong all-around day in the field.
Teague delivered a key performance on the track, placing fifth in the women's 10,000 meters with a time of 41:04.56 to score four points for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Joslyn Young also contributed to the scoring effort with a sixth-place finish in the women's triple jump, posting a mark of 9.51 meters (31-2.50).
On the men's side,
Abbott Church recorded a ninth-place finish in the triple jump at 12.47 meters (40-11). The Pomeroys also saw multiple athletes compete in throwing events, including
Eli Cox (36.87m),
Lane Milner (35.99m), and
Andrew Sedletzeck (29.14m) in the javelin, along with
Tristan Benskin (41.25m), Milner (41.12m), and
Jerahmia Smith (39.87m) in the hammer throw.
The Pomeroys will continue competition at the Little State Championships on Saturday, with events resuming at 11 a.m. in Marion, Indiana.
