Jerahmia Smith will make his fourth consecutive national championship appearance after qualifying in the shot put for the 74th annual NAIA Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

Smith enters the national meet seeded third in the NAIA with a season-best mark of 17.03 meters (55 feet, 10.5 inches), which he recorded while winning the Greenville Select Meet on April 11.
The national championship appearance marks Smith's second consecutive trip to the NAIA Outdoor Championships and his fourth straight national championship appearance overall between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Smith competed at last year's outdoor national meet in Marion, Indiana, placing 11th in the shot put with a mark of 16.43 meters.
Smith has put together a dominant senior outdoor season for the Pomeroys, winning the shot put in five of his six outdoor meets. He opened the outdoor campaign with a first-place finish at the '26 Early Bird Invitational on March 21, posting a mark of 16.31 meters (53-6.25), before adding another win at the Fightin' Engineers Spring Classic on March 28 with a throw of 16.08 meters (52-9.25).
Smith followed with a third-place finish at the Pacesetter Invitational on April 3-4, recording a mark of 16.39 meters (53-9.25). He then delivered his top mark of the season at the Greenville Select Meet, winning the shot put at 17.03 meters.
He continued his strong postseason push at the 121st Annual Indiana Little State Championships on April 17-18, winning the shot put with a mark of 16.98 meters (55-8.5). Smith then captured the River States Conference championship in the shot put May 1-2 with a throw of 16.69 meters (54-9.25).
Smith also competed in the discus and hammer throw at the RSC Championships, placing 13th in the discus at 36.89 meters (121-0) and eighth in the hammer at 42.93 meters (140-10).
His outdoor success follows an All-American performance during the indoor season. Smith placed fifth in the shot put at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 16.66 meters (54-8), earning national honors for SMWC.
Smith will now look to close his senior season on the national stage as he represents the Pomeroys in Asheville.
