10/23/2025 6:08:00 PM

The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College sprint football team looks to stay unbeaten when it travels to Quincy, Ill., for a Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) matchup on Friday, October 24. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT), with live radio coverage on WNDI 95.3 FM and streaming available at SMWCAthletics.com.
Series Notes
This will be the second meeting of the season between the Pomeroys and Quincy. SMWC won the earlier contest on September 20 at Jay Barrett Field, defeating the Hawks 49-27 behind a balanced offensive attack and opportunistic defense.

The Pomeroys hold a 1-0 edge in the all-time series and remain unbeaten away from home with a program-best 13-0 road record.
Last Time Out – Calumet Game Declared No Contest
The Pomeroys' scheduled matchup at Calumet College of St. Joseph on October 18 was declared a no contest due to severe weather.

The contest at Ray P. Gallivan Stadium in Whiting, Ind., was delayed multiple times and lasted less than five minutes before conditions forced play to stop for good. On Monday, the MSFL confirmed that the game will not be resumed.

Per league by-laws, if both SMWC and CCSJ finish the regular season with identical records and each wins its respective MSFL Semifinal, a coin flip will serve as the final tiebreaker. The coin toss will be conducted by MSFL Commissioner Ron Prettyman on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. (ET) via live stream.

  • Record: 4-0 overall (one game declared no contest)
  • Scoring: Outscoring opponents 191–89, averaging 47.8 points per game
  • Quarterback: Jeremiah Tosky has 48 career TD passes, just two shy of the 50-touchdown milestone

Quincy at a Glance
The Hawks enter Friday's matchup with an 0-5 record, still searching for their first victory of the season. Quincy has shown flashes offensively, putting up 27 points in its previous meeting with SMWC, but has struggled to contain opponents across its schedule.
What's at Stake
The matchup provides SMWC with the opportunity to:
  • Extend its perfect all-time road record (13-0)
  • Push its 2025 season mark to 5-0 (excluding the no contest)
  • Gain momentum heading into the regular-season finale and postseason
Head coach Blaine Powell owns a career record of 24-4, with three straight championship appearances, and continues to guide the Pomeroys' push toward another title run.
Up Next
The Pomeroys return home to close the regular season on Saturday, November 1, hosting Bellarmine at 3 p.m. (ET) at Jay Barrett Field.
