SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College softball team (9-7) defeated Brescia University (0-8) in today's doubleheader. Summer Rocha and Josie Lord had two strong pitching performances, allowing just two runs and seven hits between them. The Pomeroys are back over .500 as they prepare to travel to Rio Grande, Ohio this weekend for a tri-team tournament with the University of Rio Grande and Lawrence Technological University.
Game #15 | vs Brescia University | W 7-0
The Pomeroys got out to a hot start starting with a Jaselyn Conn walk and a single by Cameron Scott to get a runner into scoring position. A double by Josie Lord scored two runs and SMWC never looked back. The Pomeroys would bat around and finish the inning with 7 runs on 6 hits. Starter Summer Rocha would pitch the team through 7 innings of two-hit ball and earn her fourth career win.

Game #16 | vs Brescia University | W 5-2
Josie Lord got out to a tough start, surrendering a double and hitting a batter. A Brescia double and sacrifice fly would score them two as they took an early lead. The Pomeroys would respond with a Brooke Coffing single and a shot up the middle by Faith Pokryfke to tie it up. SMWC took the lead in the 3rd from a long solo home run by Lyric Krause. SMWC would add two more in the 4th and secure the win 5-2.
Pomeroy Player-of-the-Game: Lyric Krause, who hit her first home run of the season, a moonshot to left-center field in the 3rd inning, to break the tie and help secure the win for the Pomeroys.
