Box Score 2 SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - SMWC Softball swept Miami-Hamilton this afternoon on its Senior Day. The Pomeroys won both contests in run-rule fashion while they improved to 21-9 on the season.
Game #27 | vs. Miami-Hamilton
The Pomeroys jumped out to an early lead over Miami-Hamilton in their 11-3 victory. SMWC scored on a single by Camryn Scott, a passed ball during Hailey Miller's at-bat, a walk by Cory Taylor, and a single by Jilliann Reese. Katelynn Kennedy was the winning pitcher for the game. She allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Brooke Coffing threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. SMWC racked up 11 hits on the day. Hollie Jones, Scott, Miller, and Reese all collected multiple hits for the team. Reese, Miller, Scott, and Jones each collected two hits to lead all hitters.
Game #28 | vs. Miami-Hamilton
Taylor Andrew threw an 8-0 shutout against Miami-Hamilton today. The offensive firepower by SMWC was led by Camryn Scott, Nicole Niespodziany, Malerie Higginbotham, and Kindra Gingerich, all driving in runs in the inning. Scott singled on a 2-1 count in the first inning which scored one run and started the early really. Andrew took the win for The Woods. She allowed one hit and struck out nine batters. Gingerich hit her first-career out of the park home run today which was perfectly qued for Senior Day. Hollie Jones went 3-for-3 at the plate and had two steals.
Who's On Deck?
Today's doubleheader concluded the regular season for the Pomeroys. Now they will sit and wait until USCAA Nationals bids come out on Monday, May 6th. Currently, SMWC is ranked #4 in the USCAA Coaches Poll.
