EUREKA, Ill. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team thrashed the Eureka College Red Devils yesterday afternoon. The Pomeroys posted a 17-0 victory which earned the team its first win of the season. Offensively, The Woods exploded with seven different player's marking the box score with goals while the defense played stoutly and allowed zero shots in the contest. SMWC will have the opportunity to return home on Thursday, September 13th at 5:00 p.m. EST against Kaskaskia College.
- Alexis Pflum scored a whopping five (5) goals against the Red Devils; this is her career-high and she is on par to break the school record for most goals in a season
- Carra Matherly and Melisa Spognardi each earned hat tricks as they scored three (3) goals apiece; this marked each of their career-highs
- Hannah Miller found the back of the net twice (2) with a 100% shot on goal success rate
- Haley Shuler, Ashleigh Pflum, and Maddie Stuck each finish the evening with one (1) goal
- Overall, the Pomeroys outshout Eureka 61-to-0 and the defense played impeccably
What's Next?
SMWC will host Kaskaskia College on Thursday, September 13th. First tough is set for 5:00 p.m. EST. The Pomeroy look to even the slate as they fell earlier in the year to Kaskasia 2-1.

Next week, the Pomeroys will host Earlham College on Saturday, September 15th and Oakland City University on Wednesday, September 19th.
