NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's basketball dropped a 90–72 decision on the road at Indiana University Southeast Tuesday night inside the activities center.
The Pomeroys (10-13, 4-7) were led by
Ellis Todd, who poured in a game-high 24 points on 10-of-21 shooting while adding four rebounds. SMWC shot 45.8 percent from the floor and outscored IU Southeast 44–48 in the second half but was unable to overcome a 14-point halftime deficit.
IU Southeast (7-16, 7-4) used a hot shooting night from beyond the arc to pull away, connecting on 16 three-pointers and finishing at 55.0 percent from the field. Trent Hinkle paced the Grenadiers with 27 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
SMWC kept the game close early, briefly taking a first-half lead before IU Southeast closed the opening period on a run to take a 42–28 advantage into the break. The Pomeroys battled throughout the second half, cutting into the deficit with strong bench production, but the hosts pushed the lead to as many as 22 down the stretch.
Zayvion Baker added 11 points off the bench for SMWC, while
Amadou Ceesay chipped in seven points on 3-of-4 shooting. The Pomeroys finished with 31 bench points and held a 38–24 edge in points in the paint.
The Pomeroys return home Saturday, Feb. 7, when the Pomeroys host IU East at 3 p.m. (ET) inside the Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center.
