Three Pomeroys Earn All-River States Conference Second Team Honors

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – Three Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's basketball standouts have been named to the All-River States Conference Second Team following the 2025-26 season, the league office announced this week.

Senior forward Mike Ajukwa, senior guard Ellis Todd, and sophomore guard Taray Howell were recognized after helping guide the Pomeroys to a 14-15 overall record and a berth in the River States Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
Mike Ajukwa – Senior Interior Presence
Ajukwa, a 6-foot-5 forward from Columbia, South Carolina (Ridge View High School), delivered one of the most efficient offensive seasons in the conference.

The senior averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. He scored in double figures in 20 games and produced several standout performances, including a 29-point outing against IU Kokomo on 11-of-12 shooting and 21 points in the conference quarterfinal at Rio Grande.

Ajukwa's consistency around the rim and ability to finish at a high percentage made him a foundational piece of the Pomeroy front court.
Ellis Todd – Veteran Playmaker
Todd, a 6-foot-4 senior guard from Minneapolis, Minnesota (DeLaSalle High School), served as the steady engine of the SMWC offense.

He averaged 12.9 points per game and dished out a team-high 95 assists while logging a team-best 791 minutes. Todd recorded eight 20-point performances, highlighted by a 29-point game against IU Kokomo and 24-point efforts versus Rio Grande and Indiana Southeast.

He also posted a near triple-double against St. Xavier (Ill.), finishing with 24 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
Taray Howell – Emerging Sophomore Scorer
Howell, a 5-foot-8 sophomore guard from Evansville, Indiana (Benjamin Bosse High School), led the Pomeroys in scoring at 15.5 points per game.

He connected on 48 three-pointers and shot 84.2 percent from the free-throw line while delivering multiple explosive performances, including:
  • 29 points against Bethel (IN)
  • 26 points at IU Columbus
  • 25 points versus St. Xavier (Ill.)
  • 24 points against Indiana Northwest
Howell scored 20 or more points in seven contests and provided a dynamic perimeter presence throughout conference play.
The trio's recognition marks one of the program's strongest All-Conference showings in recent seasons and reflects the continued growth and competitiveness of the Pomeroys within the River States Conference.
