Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer dropped a 2-0 decision on the road Tuesday afternoon at Anderson University. The loss moves the Pomeroys to 0-3 on the season, while the Ravens improved to 2-0.
Anderson broke through late in the first half when Natalie Marcum scored unassisted in the 42nd minute to give the hosts a 1-0 halftime lead. The Ravens doubled their advantage in the 66th minute on a penalty kick conversion by Hannah Thompson, sealing the 2-0 result.
SMWC generated nine shots on the day, with
Raelee Everhart leading the attack with four attempts, including two on goal. Isabella Cox and
Mackenzie Best each put a shot on target, while
Priscilla Cardichon added another scoring chance.
Defensively, goalkeeper
Eerika Erjansalo kept the Pomeroys within reach, finishing with 10 saves on 12 shots on goal across 90 minutes in net.
Anderson controlled much of the possession, outshooting the Pomeroys 31-9 and holding a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Pomeroys continue their road swing on Friday, Sept. 5, when they travel to Calumet College of St. Joseph. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (CT) in Whiting, Ind.
