Box Score UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- The SMWC women's basketball team battled the Paul Quinn College Tigers in the the first round of the USCAA National Championships this morning. Despite the Pomeroys winning the rebound-margin and making 27 of their 42 free throws, they lost 91-78.
GAME FLOW
Early in the first quarter, Paul Quinn jumped out to a quick lead. The Pomeroys fought back and cut the lead to five points but the Tiger's were able to pull away each time. Although SMWC grabbed 10 more rebounds than the PQC, they could not seem to seal the gap. At halftime, SMWC trailed 46-31. In the third quarter, the Woods shot the ball 37.8% from the field and did not allow PQC to make a three-point basket. Paul Quinn made the most of their early game lead and did not let the Pomeroys regain from their first quarter play. SMWC lost 91-78 and will be back in action tomorrow morning at 9:15 a.m.
