TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team took the floor in front of more than 2,300 local sixth graders on Vigo County School Corporation Youth Day, falling 102–50 to Indiana State on Monday morning inside Hulman Center.
The Pomeroys opened strong with a competitive first quarter, shooting 35.7 percent from the field and knocking down a pair of early threes to stay within range. Indiana State (3-3) responded with a 32-point opening frame and kept its momentum throughout, using 21 fast-break points and 36 points off turnovers to break the game open.
Abigail Parker and
Samara Douglas each scored 15 points to lead SMWC. Parker knocked down three triples and added four assists, while Douglas finished 6-of-11 from the floor with seven rebounds.
Talyssa Moody contributed six points off the bench, and
Nadiya Figures pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
Indiana State shot 52.0 percent for the game and placed five players in double figures, led by Tierney Kelsey and Jayci Allen with 17 each.
SMWC collected 17 second-chance points on 11 offensive rebounds and totaled 38 rebounds overall, but the Sycamores' pressure forced 27 turnovers to help secure the win.
