Pomeroys Drop Road Contest at Alice Lloyd; Open RSC Play at Home Tuesday

PIPPAS PASSES, Ky. —Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College dropped a 69–61 loss to Alice Lloyd College (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon inside the Penner Center.

The Pomeroys stayed within striking distance throughout, trailing by just one point at halftime before Alice Lloyd pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Abigail Parker led SMWC with a game-high 21 points, adding eight rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes of action. Confidence Nwachukwu provided a strong spark off the bench with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks, while Samara Douglas contributed nine points and nine rebounds.

SMWC battled on the glass, outrebounding Alice Lloyd 53–40 and scoring 24 second-chance points, but struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 3-of-25 from three-point range. The Pomeroys also left points at the line, converting 16-of-27 free throw attempts.

Alice Lloyd was led by Shelby Stewart's 15 points, including four three-pointers, while Jamie Cowan and Bailey Stewart added 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Eagles shot 39.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range.

With the result, SMWC moves to 0–10 on the season.

The Pomeroys will return home to open River States Conference play on Wednesday, hosting Brescia University (Ky.) at 6 p.m. (ET) inside the Knoerle Center. Admission is free as part of the Holiday Break Special.
