SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team is gearing up for a rematch with Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday to start the beginning of the final month of the season.
The Pomeroys are 10-10 and ranked eighth in the USCAA, while the Blue Raiders come in with a 17-4 record and having beaten SMWC, 106-80, back on December 22.
Freshman Callan Taylor led the Pomeroys in scoring in the last meeting with 17 points, while junior Na-Shaunda Rayford recorded 13 points and led the team in rebounds with eight. Defensively, the Pomeroys recorded nine steals and forced 20 turnovers. On the year, SMWC is averaging 20.7 steals and forcing 34.5 turnovers per game.
Five Pomeroys are averaging double figure points with senior Shelby Parmer leading the way at 12.5. Taylor is averaging 12, sophomore Tara Parmer is averaging 11.2 and junior Ja'Breena Gardner is averaging 10.5.
T. Parmer is coming off of a career-high 28 points against Oakland City and S. Parmer has scored 20 plus points in two of SMWC's last three games. Junior Bria Hill, who did not play in the first meeting, is averaging 9.3 rebounds and 5.4 points per game.
The Blue Raiders enter Wednesday's game having won their last three games. Chanel Roberts is LWC's leading scorer at 14.1 points per game. Billie Hern is the Blue Raiders leading rebounder with six boards a game. LWC is averaging 76.9 points per game and allowing 66.2 points, while the Pomeroys in comparison are averaging 90.9 and allowing 87.7.
