SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team moved to 2-3 overall on Saturday after falling to Fontbonne, 98-87.

Three Pomeroys notched double figures with junior Grace Zeigler leading the way with 16 points. Sophomore Mikayla Kinneer recorded 15 points and junior Sierra Lopez recorded 12 points. Freshman Jordyn Lloyd finished two points shy of her first career double-double as she grabbed 11 rebounds and recorded eight points. Junior Shelby Parmer led SMWC in assists with five and tied for the team lead in steals with three. Also recording three steals on the day were sophomore NaShaunda Rayford and junior Desiree Irizarry.

The Pomeroys jumped out to a lead early and maintained the lead for the majority of the first half. Then with 3:44 remaining in the first half and the score knotted up at 33, Fontbonne jumped into the lead. The Griffins then went on an 11-1 run to end the half and go into halftime up 44-34. Zeigler scored nine of her 16 points in the first 20 minutes, while Lopez and Kinneer each scored six points in the first half.

The Pomeroys started the second half by quickly cutting into Fontbonne's lead. After just 1:20 into the first half, SMWC was back within one point with 44-43 on the scoreboard. Then with 16:31 on the clock, Fontbonne built back up a double-digit lead and never let it go, as they stayed ahead of the Pomeroys by double figures for the remainder of the game to defeat SMWC, 98-87.

The Pomeroys finished the game shooting 31 percent (27-of-88) from the floor and 19 percent (8-of-42) from 3-point range. The Pomeroys shot 63 percent (25-of-40) from the free throw line. Fontbonne shot above 50 percent across the board as they went 50 percent (38-of-76) from the floor, 56 percent (5-of-9) from 3-point range and 68 percent (17-of-25) from the free throw line.

The Pomeroys will be back in action on December 3 when the host cross-town rival Rose-Hulman. Dec. 3 will serve as the ribbon cutting for the Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center.
