DANIELS, W. Va. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team closed out play at the River States Conference Championships on Tuesday, finishing ninth overall after the third and final round at The Resort at Glade Springs.
The Pomeroys posted a three-round total of 970 (326-329-315) on the par 72, 6,898-yard layout, delivering their strongest round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 315 to move up one spot in the final standings.
Josh Michael led SMWC with a 54-hole total of 240 (83-80-77), finishing tied for 25th overall. Michael capped his tournament with a solid final-round 77 to pace the Pomeroys on the final day.
Nolan Allen continued his strong play with a three-round total of 243 (87-78-78), finishing 30th overall after back-to-back rounds of 78 to close the tournament.
John Amt finished tied for 35th with a total of 248 (82-85-81), while
Nolan Mishler placed tied for 37th at 249 (77-86-86).
Tomas Carvajal rounded out the lineup for SMWC, finishing tied for 54th at 172 (84-88).
Indiana University East captured the team title with a 917 (307-311-299), followed by Midway (920) and Rio Grande (925). Oakland City (926) and West Virginia Tech (947) completed the top five.
Individually, Oakland City's Jose Vidal earned medalist honors with a three-round total of 215 (74-68-73).
SMWC's final-round improvement highlighted a strong finish to the championship, as the Pomeroys turned in their best team score of the week to close out the three-day event.
