NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team concluded play at the Sagamore Shootout on Monday at The Sagamore Club, finishing eighth overall in a competitive NAIA field.
SMWC posted a two-round team score of 643, improving from a 322 in the opening round to a 321 in round two to secure its top-10 finish.
John Amt led the way for the Pomeroys with a fourth-place finish, carding a 144 (73-71). His final-round 71 came at one-under par on the par-72, 7,040-yard layout, highlighting a strong close that placed him among the top performers in the field.
Nolan Allen finished tied for 42nd with a 163 (84-79), while
Josh Michael added a tie for 44th at 164 (81-83).
Additional scoring for SMWC included
Nolan Mishler (172),
Neal Jeffery (174), and
Tomas Carvajal (175).
Marian (Ind.) captured the team title with a 578, followed by Taylor (593) and Indiana University East (601) to round out the top three.
The event, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University, featured a deep field of conference and regional competition, providing a strong late-season test for the Pomeroys.
SMWC returns to action at the River States Conference Championships in Daniels, West Virginia, scheduled for April 26–28. Tee times are to be announced, with live stats available throughout the event.
