Pomeroys Sit Tied for Seventh After Round One of RSC Championships

DANIELS, W.Va. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team opened competition at the River States Conference Championships on Sunday, sitting tied for seventh place after the first of three rounds at The Resort at Glade Springs, a par 72, 6,898-yard layout, hosted by West Virginia Tech.

The Pomeroys posted a team score of 326 in round one, tying IU Southeast and positioning themselves in the middle of a competitive field with two rounds still to play.

Individually, Nolan Mishler led SMWC with a 77, placing tied for 11th overall after day one. John Amt carded an 82 (T-33), while Josh Michael finished with an 83 (T-38). Tomas Carvajal added an 84 (T-41), and Nolan Allen rounded out the lineup with an 87 (T-51).

Rio Grande leads the team standings after the opening round with a 304, followed by Midway (305) and Indiana University East (307). Oakland City (310) and host West Virginia Tech (314) complete the top five after day one.

With two rounds remaining, the Pomeroys remain within reach of moving up the leaderboard as the championship continues.
