TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Senior
Evelyn Morales captured the
60-meter hurdles title and added a point-scoring finish in the 400 meters as the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's track and field team placed
fourth (39 points) Friday night at the Rose-Hulman Friday Night Spikes #2 indoor meet.
Washington University won the team title with
239 points, followed by
Rose-Hulman (137),
Oakland City (45),
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (39),
Franklin (33),
St. Norbert (23) and
Hanover (16).
Morales won the
60 hurdles in
9.94 seconds and later finished
fourth in the 400 with a time of
1:05.27.
In the throws, sophomore
Callee Riggle turned in two podium finishes, taking
second in the weight throw with a mark of
12.86 meters (42-02.25) and placing
third in the shot put at
10.37m (34-00.25). Freshman
Maylee Wenzel added key points with a
fifth-place finish in the shot put (
9.69m/31-09.50) and an
eighth-place mark in the weight throw (
10.05m/32-11.75).
Senior
Quinlan Teague produced another scoring performance with a
fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters in
10:53.35, while freshman
Gaige Goodman scored in the
long jump, placing
eighth with a leap of
4.47m (14-08.00). Junior
Lauren Majors finished
ninth in the long jump at
4.43m (14-06.50) and ran
8.55 in the
60-meter prelims.
On the track, Goodman also posted times of
31.43 in the
200 meters and
1:13.26 in the
400. In the 800 meters, junior
Chloe Field ran
2:39.68, sophomore
Gwen Garman clocked
2:43.62, freshman
Cammi VanGilder posted
2:43.64, and senior
Katelynn Braun finished in
3:15.15. In the mile, freshman
Brooke Mace turned in a time of
6:08.39, while Garman ran
6:14.33.
The Pomeroys return to action on
Saturday, Jan. 31, at the
Rose-Hulman Classic, beginning at
3 p.m. (ET) in Terre Haute.
