Balanced Attack Leads SMWC Past Quincy

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College sprint football showcased a balanced offensive effort and timely defense in a 49–27 victory over Quincy University on Saturday at Jay Barrett Field. The win moves the Pomeroys to 2-0 overall and in Midwest Sprint Football League play.

Early Statement
SMWC built a 21–0 lead in the first quarter, capped by touchdowns from Patrick Perea (3-yard run), Owen Huff (39-yard reception from Jeremiah Tosky), and Zy'Eiar White (3-yard run). White went on to score two more times on runs of 16 and 17 yards, finishing with 57 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Tosky directed the Pomeroys' offense with 250 yards passing and two touchdowns, connecting on 19 of 32 attempts. His top targets included Corbyn Cleveland (6 catches, 97 yards, 1 TD) and Huff (3 catches, 79 yards, 1 TD). Perea contributed both on the ground (28 rushing yards, 1 TD) and through the air (3 receptions).

Quincy's Response
Quincy quarterback Kiet Truong kept the Hawks in the contest with 204 passing yards and four touchdowns. Receiver Gregory Quince led the Hawks with 74 yards and three scores, while Josiah Oliver added a 45-yard touchdown grab. CJ Jackson paced the ground game with 62 yards on 24 carries.

Defensive & Special Teams Impact
The Pomeroy defense sealed the outcome late when Elijah Connor returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Connor Wardlaw was perfect on 7-for-7 point-after attempts and averaged 49.9 yards on eight kickoffs, including two touchbacks. Punter Holtman Doades added three punts for a 42.0 average, highlighted by a 65-yard boot.

Quincy linebacker Donnell Packer recorded a team-high 10 tackles, while Logan Cannady added a sack among his seven stops.
