DANIELS, W.V. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Pomeroys opened play at the 2025 River States Conference (RSC) Men's Golf Championship on Sunday, finishing the first round with a team score of 308. SMWC sits in eighth place entering round two at The Resort at Glade Springs – Cobb Course, a par-72, 6,898-yard layout.
Leading the way for the Pomeroys were
Colby Beckwith and
Justin Hopkins, each carding a 3-over-par 75 to tie for 14th individually.
Brevin Cooper and
Benjamin Goshen both turned in rounds of 79, while
Chase Nuckols rounded out the scoring with an 81.
Midway University leads the nine-team field after the opening round, shooting a 296, thanks in part to Jack Bedell's even-par 72. West Virginia Tech (298) and Oakland City University (299) are close behind. Oakland City's Leo Molino fired a tournament-best 4-under-par 68 to top the individual leaderboard.
Other top individual performers include West Virginia Tech's Alvaro Iglesias (71), Midway's Jack Bedell (72), and five players tied at 73, including Indiana-Kokomo's Lucas Miller and Oliver Gearlds.
Round two of the 54-hole championship tees off Monday, May 5, at 10 a.m. ET, as the Pomeroys aim to climb the leaderboard heading into the final round on Tuesday.
