SMWC Women Win 4 Individual Titles & Finish 6th At River States Championships

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's and women's track and field team enjoyed several standout performances at the River States Conference Outdoor Championships during the second day of competition (April 26). The event was hosted by Rio Grande (Ohio).

The SMWC women's track and field finished in sixth place with 104 points scored. 

Kyla Bradberry will advance to the 2025 NAIA Outdoor National Championships to be held on May 21 & 23 in Marion, Ind. Bradberry was named the River States Newcomer Of The Year and broke the River States Conference Meet Record in the 200 meter dash.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Jaci Stone, Kyla Bradberry, Alex Hernandez and Hope McGuire won the championship by blazing around the track in a time of 49.74 seconds to kick off the winning performances for the Pomeroys.

Evelyn Morales picked up a RSC Championship for the Pomeroys with a first place finish in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.76 seconds. Joslyn Young was sixth in the event for SMWC to score three points in a time of 16.99 seconds. 

It would prove to be the start of a big day for Bradberry who also picked up a victory in the 200 meter dash with a meet record time of 24.70 seconds while McGuire was fifth in a time of 26.32 seconds. Stone posted a seventh place finish for the Pomeroys in the event with a time of 26.76 seconds.

She wasn't done yet as Bradberry also won the 100 meter dash championship — her third trip to the top of the podium during the meet. She covered the event in a time of 12.30 seconds to win while Stone was fourth in a time of 12.67 seconds and McGuire posted a sixth finish in a time of 12.98 seconds. 

Morales also did well in the field events with a fourth place finish and five points scored in the triple jump. She lept a distance of 9.81 meters (32-2.25) in the event.

Quinlan Teague put up a fourth place finish for the Pomeroys in the 5,000 meter run to score five points. She finished the race in a time of 19:17.33. 

In the women's 800 meter run, Gwen Garman was the top Pomeroy with an 11th place finish and a season-best time of 2:34.29. Chloe Field was 14th in the event with a time of 2:39.00.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Morales, Young, Hernandez and Bradberry posted a third place finish in the event to record six points for the Pomeroys. They finished the race with a time of 4:07.08.

Young would go to record a fifth place finish in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.91. Genesis Boyd also scored in the event with an eight place finish covering the track in 1:13.35. 

IndiAnn Nichols finished 10th in the discus throw with a mark of 28.05 meters (92-0). Nichols went on to record a ninth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 10.41 meters (34-1.75) while Callee Riggle was 16th with a distance of 9.29 meters (30-5.75). Hernandez raced to a 10th place finish in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:04.77.
