Kyla Bradberry Picks Up Two Event Victories To Pace Pomeroys At 120th Annual Little State Championship

MARION, Ind. – Kyla Bradberry paced Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with victories in the 100 and 200 meter runs on the second day of the 120th Annual Little State Championship hosted this weekend by Indiana Wesleyan.

The SMWC women finished in 10th place in the meet with a final team score of 35 points while the men were 15th with 13 points.

Bradberry won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.18 seconds — tying her fastest time of the season and also the fastest wind legal time in the River States Conference this season. Hope McGuire finished ninth with a time of 12.72 seconds while Jaci Stone was 12th in a time of 12.84 seconds. For the men, Devon Bowe finished 47th with a season-best of 11.59 seconds.

Bradberry remained in the headlines by also picking up a victory in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.69 seconds to give her the fastest time this year in the River States Conference with a legal wind reading. McGuire came in 13th place with a time of 26.35 seconds.

The day began for the Pomeroys with a second place finish in the women's 4 x 100 meter relay as the team of Stone, Evelyn Morales, McGuire and Bradberry recorded a time of 49.42 seconds. That is the fastest time so far this outdoor season in the River States Conference. On the men's side the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Bowe, Darrius Megnin, Christian Woodard and Na'Sier Samuel finished 10th in a time of 44.01 seconds.

Samuel would go on to finish in seventh place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.90 seconds which is just off his season best time which ranks third in the River States. In the 200 meters, Samuel posted a time of 22.47 seconds to finish in 22nd place. 

Morales competed in the 100 meter hurdles and finished with a time of 17.11 seconds which was 20th. She continued her excellent meet by improving her River States Conference best time of 1:07.27 to finish ninth in the 400 meter hurdles. 

Quinlan Teague raced to a seventh place finish in the women's 5,000 meter run with a new school record jaunt of 18:58.90 to improve on her standing as the third fastest time this season in the River States. On the men's side, Jonathan Hayden posted a 23rd place finish in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:01.46 while Thomas Chapman was 25th with a time of 16:07.49.

Megnin placed eighth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.86 seconds. 

In the women's 1,500 meters Gwen Garman finished in 28th place with a season-best time of 5:32.24. Brinlee McCloud was the Pomeroy's top finisher in the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:38.94 to finish 34th while Garman posted a season-best time of 2:40.25 to finish 36th.

For the women's discus IndiAnn Nichols posted a mark of 25.96 meters (85-2) to finish 33rd. Tristin Benskin posted a 30th place finish in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 38.41 meters (126-0). Benskin went on to record a ninth place finish in the men's discus with a throw of 41.08 meters (134-9). 

MiRon Starks finished 32nd in the men's long jump with a mark of 5.23 meters (17-2). Abbott Chruch tied for 10th in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.81 meters (5-11.25) to improve on his season best. 

Jaci Stone recorded a mark of 4.86 meters in the women's long jump (15-11.25) to finish in ninth place. Payton Smith placed 19th with a jump of 4.15 meters (13-7.5).
