KOKOMO, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's golf team wrapped up the first round of the IU-Kokomo Spring Shootout in fifth place on Saturday, posting a team score of 316 (+28) at Wildcat Creek Golf Club. The par-72 course plays at 6,876 yards.
SMWC trails team leader Indiana University East (+8) by 20 shots heading into Sunday's final round. Indiana-Kokomo (+12) and West Virginia Tech (+16) round out the top three in the eight-team field.
The Pomeroys were led by
Benjamin Goshen, who fired a 77 (+5) to sit in a tie for 10th place individually.
Justin Hopkins followed closely behind with a 78 (+6), putting him in a tie for 14th.
Chase Nuckols posted an 80 (+8), good for a share of 25th, while
Colby Beckwith carded an 81 (+9) to tie for 29th.
Brevin Cooper rounded out the SMWC scoring lineup with an 82 (+10), tying for 34th.
Nolan Allen, representing SMWC as an individual, also shot 82 (+10) and is tied with Cooper in 34th place.
The final round tees off at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday.
