SMWC Men's Track Post Top Performances At Pacesetter Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's and women's track & field teams battled rainy conditions and top competition at the Pacesetter Invitational, hosted by Indiana State University on Saturday (March 29). 

The Pomeroys will return to action on April 4 & 5 at the Eastern Illinois Invitational in Charleston, Ill.

The SMWC men's team recorded nine points scored in the meet to finish in 11th place. 

Darrius Megnin posted a time of 55.86 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles — a new school record — and good enough for a third place finish. Megnin recorded the 22nd fastest time in the event this season in the NAIA. Jaryn Patterson recorded a personal best in the event with a time of 1:06.86.

Na'Sier Samuel recorded a ninth place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.90 seconds — which ranks as the 42nd fastest time in NAIA this season. Devon Bowe posted a time of 11.66 seconds — a new PR while Quaion Russell's time of 11.99 seconds was also a personal best. Samuel would go on to a 12th place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.03 seconds — 42nd best in the NAIA this year. 

Christian Woodard tallied a time of 51.22 seconds in the 400 meter run which is a new personal best and good enough for a 13th place finish. In the 800 meter run, Evan Polley recorded a time of 2:09.32 which is a new personal best. James Frye's time of 2:15.72 which also a personal best in the 800 meters. 

Tristin Benskin recorded a mark of 43.16 meters (141-07) — a new school record in the discus throw. He recorded a 13th place finish in the event. Abbott Church was credited with a leap of 1.80 meters (5-10.75) in the high jump which is a new personal best. 

In the 5,000 meter run Jonathan Hayden finished 15th with a time of 16:10.79 -- good enough for a personal best in the event. 

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Bowe, Reese, Woodard and Samuel covered the event in a time of 44.38 seconds to finish sixth. Darrius Megnin went on to finish ninth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.69 seconds.
