SMWC Women's Track Records 4th Place Finish At Rose-Hulman Early Bird

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's and women's track and field teams each finished fourth at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational on Saturday (March 22). 

The SMWC women's team finished fourth in the meet with 100 points. DePauw won the meet with 181 points.

Kyla Bradberry won the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 12.19 — just three hundredths of a second off the school record. Jaci Stone was fourth in the event with a time of 12.64 seconds. Bradberry did set the school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.71 seconds as she won the event.

Evelyn Morales was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.88 seconds while Joslyn Young was fifth in a time of 17.62 seconds. Genesis Boyd posted a sixth place finish in the event with a time of 17.64 seconds. 

Morales came back to break her own school record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.69 which placed her in third. Young posted a time of 1:09.26 for a fifth place finish in the event. Boyd was seventh in the event with a time of 1:16.55. 

Brinlee McCloud recorded a time of 14:09.84 for a fifth place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Quinlan Teague posted a personal best in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:08 which was good enough for a fourth place finish.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Morales, Young, Bradberry and Hope McGuire finished second with a time of 4:16.61. In the 4 x 100 meter relay, the team of Stone, Bradberry, Boyd and McGuire was fourth with a time of 50.74 seconds.

Jaci Stone won the long jump with a mark of 4.99 meters (16-4.5) while Payton Smith was seventh with a jump of 4.68 meters (15-4.25). 

IndiAnn Nichols recorded a mark of 29.70 meters (97-5) in the discus throw for a sixth place finish. She came back with a seventh place finish in the shot put with a mark of 9.80 meters (32-2). 

Callee Riggle set a new school record with a throw of 30.12 meters (98-10) in the javelin which was good enough for fourth in the event. Riggle went on in the hammer throw to record a distance of 33.75 meters (110-8) which was seventh.

Payton Smith was fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 2.40 meters (7-10.5). 

SMWC travels across town again on March 28 & 29 when they participate in the Pacesetter Invitational hosted by Indiana State University.
