Ben Goshen Paces Pomeroys To 6th Place Finish At Great Lakes Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team recorded a sixth place at the Great Lakes Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman on Saturday (March 22). The event was held at The Country Club of Terre Haute which played to a par-71, 6,284-yard layout.

The Pomeroys recorded team scores of 326 and 314 as tournament officials elected to play both rounds of the tournament on Saturday due to Sunday's impending forecast. The total of 640 was good enough for a sixth place finish. Rose-Hulman's score of 586 won the event. 

Ben Goshen led SMWC with an opening round of 78 and came back with an even-par trip of 71 for a total of 149 and an eighth place individual finish. 

Justin Hopkins posted rounds of 80 and 76 for a total of 156 and finished in 23rd place. Chase Nukols carded rounds of 79 and 80 for a total of 159 and found himself in 31st place for the event.

Colby Beckwith fired rounds of 82 and 84 for a total of 166 -- good enough for 39th place. Brevin Cooper's rounds of 85 and 82 gave him a tournament score of 167 and 42nd place. Nolan Allen opened the day with a round of 92 and came back with an 81 in the afternoon for a total of 173 in 45th place.

Shea Andrews carded rounds of 93 and 82 for a total of 175 which finished in 49th place. Camden Church tallied rounds of 89 and 87 for a total of 176 and tied for 51st. He finished tied with Nathan Fields who posted rounds of 85 and 91 also for a total of 176.

Nolan Mishler carded rounds of 93 and 86 — a total of 179 and tie for 57th place. Landon Thome's rounds of 97 and 85 gave him a two-round score of 182 in a tie for 61st place. Devon Hendrix posted rounds of 96 and 89 for a total of 185 which finished in 63rd. Adam Waters had rounds of 96 and 95 for a total of 191 in a tie for 65th while Jordan's Booth's rounds of 97 and 108 gave him a score of 205 in 67th place.

SMWC will next head to the IU-Kokomo Shootout on April 12 & 13th in Kokomo, Ind.
