MARIETTA, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's track and field team recorded a sixth place finish at the River States Conference Indoor Championships held on February 14 & 15 at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.
The Pomeroys finished sixth in the River States Indoor Championships with 77 total points to top both Shawnee State and West Virginia Tech. Rio Grande won the women's team championship with 178 points.
Evelyn Morales got the Pomeroys off to a solid start on the second day in the triple jump with a leap of 10.10 meters (33-1.75) for a third place finish and six valuable points. It marked a personal best and school record for a Morales in the event. She came right back on short rest with a time of 9.16 seconds in the 55 meter hurdles which was good enough for second place and eight more points for the Pomeroys.

Hope McGuire raced to a second place finish in the event with a time of 7.46 seconds which netted eight points scored. The event was full of Pomeroys as
Jaci Stone also scored in the event with a time of 7.66 seconds and a fifth place finish. McGuire continued her strong meet with another second place finish — the time in the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.39 seconds which produced eight points for the team. Alexandra Hernandez finished the event in a time of 27.28 seconds which was was sixth and scored three points in the team standings.
The SMWC 4 x 400 meter relay team smashed the previous school record with a second place finish in a time of 4:13.70. The Pomeroys were represented by Morales, Young, Hernandez and McGuire.
Joslyn Young posted a school record time of 1:02.42 in the 400 meter run which was good enough for a third place finish in the event and six points for SMWC. Alexandra Hernandez posted a time of 1:05.74 which was 11th.
Quinlan Teague recorded a sixth place finish in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 11.14.90 which netted three points for the Pomeroys.
