MARIETTA, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's track and field team recorded a sixth place finishes at the River States Conference Indoor Championships held on February 14 & 15 at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.
For the Pomeroys,
Jerahmia Smith will continue on to the NAIA National Indoor Championships in the shot put on Saturday, March 1 in Gainesville, Fla.
The SMWC men finished in sixth place with 31 points as they topped West Virginia Tech, Oakland City and Brescia. Rio Grande won the men's side of the meet with 313 points.
Thomas Chapman starred for the Pomeroys in the 3,000 meter run with a new school record and personal best time of 8:43.19. He finished fourth in the event and recorded five points for SMWC.
Darrius Megnin posted a fourth place finish in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.07 seconds which produced five points for the Pomeroys in the team standings. He came back with a sixth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.44 seconds which posted three points for SMWC.
Corbyn Cleveland came up with a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.16 meters (39-10.75). In the high jump,
Abbott Church recorded an 11
th place finish with a height of 1.78 meters (5-10).
Tristan Benskin represented the Pomeroys in the weight and recorded a throw of 14.17 meters (46-6) which was good enough for 10
th place.
