GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women's cross country team turned in a strong performance on Saturday at the Great Lakes Challenge, placing 15th in a deep 30-team field at Riverside Park.
Senior
Quinlan Teague led the way for the Pomeroys with a standout effort, finishing sixth overall in the Women's White 5K race. Teague clocked a time of
19:08.5, averaging 3:50 per kilometer to secure a top-10 spot among more than 190 competitors.
Freshman
Brooke Mace was the second finisher for SMWC, crossing the line in
20:57.7 for 79th place. She was closely followed by sophomore
Gwen Garman, who ran
21:29.5 to place 96th.
Junior
Brinlee McCloud added a scoring mark of
21:35.2 for 102nd, while freshman
Cammi Vangilder rounded out the Pomeroys' top five with a
21:59.9 performance in 115th place. Sophomore
Clara Westcott (132nd, 22:48.9) and sophomore
Josie Gettinger (139th, 23:43.9) completed the SMWC lineup.
As a team, SMWC totaled
398 points to secure 15th place, finishing ahead of Michigan-Dearborn, Campbellsville, Aquinas, and Indiana East among others.

River States Conference Championship on
Saturday, November 8 in Rio Grande, Ohio, where they will race for a league title and a chance to qualify for the NAIA National Championships.
