CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – On Saturday, the St. Mary-of-the-Woods men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Wabash College Huntsman Family Invitational.
Javian Edwards won the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.63 meters (48 feet). Just nine days after hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard at Marian – this mark hits the 'A' Standard and will advance to the NAIA Nationals in May.
Ahmad Benford tallied a fifth place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.23 seconds. Xavier Rahe was third in the 400 meters in a time of 50.08 seconds while Jazaiah Douglas was fifth in 50.37 seconds.
The men's 4 x 100 relay team of Djibrille Salako, Rahe, Luke Frey and Benford finished fifth in a time of 43.78 seconds while the 4 x 400 relay team of Douglas, Christian Woodard, Jaryn Patterson and Rahe was third in a time of 3:26.64.
Luke Frey finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.46 meters (21.2.5). In the shot put, Tristin Benskin was fifth with a mark of 13.10 meters (42-11.75) while in the discus Benskin hit a mark of 40.82 meters (133-11).
The St. Mary-of-the-Woods men's and women's track and field teams return to action on Saturday April 13 when they travel to the Greenville Select Meet in Greenville, Ill., with the action beginning at 11:30 am (ET).
