INDIANAPOLIS – The St. Mary-of-the-Woods men's and women's track & field teams competed on Thursday (March 28) in the Marian Knights Open against a slew of regional teams including those that compete at the NCAA Division II level.
Javian Edwards won the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.41 meters which is a NAIA "B" Standard (47-3.5).
Luke Frey was fifth in the same event with a mark of 12.74 meters (41-9.75).
Xavier Rahe was third in the 400 meters with a school record time of 50.05 while
Jazaiah Douglas was seventh in 52.30 and
Christian Woodard finished 10
th with a time of 52.90 seconds. In the distance,
Thomas Chapman finished sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:55.39.
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of
Djibrille Salako,
Xavier Rahe,
Luke Frey and
Ahmad Benford set a school record and finished second in the event with a time of 43.59 seconds.
The 4 x 400 relay team of
Jazaiah Douglas,
Christian Woodard,
Jaryn Patterson and
Xavier Rahe also set a school record and was third in a time of 3:28.0. The 4 x 800 relay team of
Alec Smith,
Evan Adams,
Zachary Weir and
Braeden Heaton was second with a time of 9:26.66.
In the field,
Javian Edwards was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.74 meters (22-1.5) while
Luke Frey was sixth with 6.45 meters (21-2).
The SMWC Track & Field teams travel to the Wabash College Huntsman Family Invitational on Saturday, April 6.
