Pomeroys in 5th after first day at Coqui Classic in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO - SMWC women's golf made seven birdies, 52 pars and more than a few memories at a the scenic Ocean Course at Rio Mar Country Club on Monday. 
The Pomeroys played 36 holes and sit in fifth place out of seven teams in the Coqui Classic. 
Macie Shirk's first-round score of 79 was among the highlights as she was in 19th place, making par on nine of the 18 holes along with one birdie. 
Shirk shot 91 in the second round to fall to 24th, with Brooklee Bussing one shot back at 171 (84-87). Freshman Renae Jaeger is tied for 27th at 173 (83-90). 
Sophie Boyll is tied for 30th at 180 (91-89). Boyll's second-round 91 included a 37 on the back nine that included birdies on the 510-yard Par-5 No. 11 and on the 110-yard Par-3 16th hole. 
Erin Williams is 35th (102-98--200) and Kristin Pagach is 33rd (97-89-186).
The Pomeroys return to action Tuesday looking to gain ground.on fourth-place Point University. Keiser University held the lead at 25-over-par.
