Saint Mary-of-the-Woods faces the first of three NCAA Division I opponents Monday afternoon with a trip to Eastern Illinois.
The game is Kids Day for local Charleston, Ill., school students and will be broadcast on ESPN3.com.
The Pomeroys (3-2) enter the action coming off a 76-65 loss at IU East to open River States Conference action.
Eastern Illinois enters the game 0-4, but the Panthers' losses have come to quality opponents. The season-opening loss came at No. 23 Illinois by a score of 87-57. The Panthers then lost to Missouri Valley Conference's Illinois State (54-49), followed by a 76-60 loss at Central Michigan. The Panthers fell to Ohio State 65-43 last Wednesday.
Through four games, EIU is shooting 31.4 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from 3-point range.
The Panthers are coached by Marty Simmons, a Lawrenceville, Ill., native who was Mr. Basketball in high school. He has a 287-274 career record, including 184 wins at the University of Evansville.
SMWC is led in scoring by Keith Germain (17 ppg), Tarik Dixon (16 ppg) and J.R. Lumsden (13 ppg). Germain is leading the way with 9 rebounds per game and 3 blocked shots per game as well.
