KOHLER, Wisc. - Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's golf team was back on the course for the first time since its 2019 USCAA National Championship finish. The Pomeroys battled in the Whistling
Straits Championship hosted by Taylor University. SMWC concluded its two-day 36-hole stroke play against NAIA teams from all over America. With the event known to be "one of the best NAIA events of the season" featuring numerous teams ranked in the NAIA Top-25, the men's team competed well against the treacherous weather, stiff competitions, and professional greens.
The Pomeroys defeated multiple NAIA institutions including Viterbo University, Roosevelt University, Concordia Univ. (Mich.), and Indiana University-South Bend, to tied for 10th place!
Head coach Abe Nasser was proud of his team and happy the players were able to have this chance, "It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our seniors to play such a prestigious golf course. Watching the 2020 Ryder Cup which will be played on the same course they all battled for two days will be a special experience. The weather was brutal and our players did not quit; I'm proud of their effort."
