Box Score BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. – The #15 Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women's basketball team defeated Andrews University on Monday night, 84-35, to snap a four-game losing streak. The Pomeroys are now 6-13 on the year and 4-4 in the USCAA.
Junior Tara Parmer led three Pomeroys in double figures with 26 points. Senior Ja'Breena Gardner scored 21 points and junior Jordyn Lloyd recorded 12 points. Parmer, Lloyd and freshman Hayley Preston all grabbed eight rebounds, as SMWC outrebounded AU 41-32.
Defensively, Gardner recorded a team-high seven steals, while Parmer and sophomore Callan Taylor each recorded four steals. SMWC forced AU to turn the ball over 31 times, while recording 19 steals.
The Pomeroys finished the night making 48 percent (33-of-69) of their shots from the field and 35 percent (13-of-37) of their shots from three-point range. SMWC also went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
SMWC will be back in action on January 27 against Robert Morris-Springfield for another USCAA matchup.
