TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Renae Jaeger delivered an impressive runner-up finish to lead Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College at the Indiana State Invitational, hosted by Indiana State University at the Country Club of Terre Haute.
Facing a field made up entirely of NCAA Division I competitors, Jaeger rose to the occasion with rounds of 74 and 76 to finish second overall with a 150. The SMWC senior was in contention throughout the event and finished just three strokes behind medalist Evgeniia Grankina of University of Evansville, who posted a 147.
Jaeger's performance highlighted a strong and consistent two-day showing, as she stood out among some of the top competition in the region.
As a team, the Pomeroys showed improvement in the final round, posting a 327 after an opening-round 332 to finish with a 659 and place sixth overall. University of Evansville claimed the team title with a 604, followed by Indiana State University (619) and University of Illinois Chicago (624).
Macie Shirk provided a strong supporting finish for the Pomeroys, tying for 17th with rounds of 83 and 78 for a 161.
Brooklee Bussing added a 172 (84-88), while
Kristin Pagach improved in the final round to finish with a 176 (91-85).
Brianna Andreas also made a significant jump on day two, carding an 84 after a 96 on Sunday to finish at 180.
Bailey Barker posted rounds of 98 and 92 (190), while
Eva Mennonno (94-98—192) and
Emily Vandall (97-98—195) rounded out the SMWC competitors.
SMWC returns to action April 24-25 at the Forest Hills Intercollegiate, hosted by Indiana University East in Richmond, Indiana.
