SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. — The
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team competed against a strong NCAA Division III field this weekend at the
Rose-Hulman Spring Invitational held at Legacy Golf Course in Springfield, Tennessee.
The Pomeroys finished
15th overall with a two-round total of 661, improving significantly in the second round after posting a
338 in round one and a 323 in round two.
John Amt led
SMWC with a
two-day total of 155, finishing
tied for 23rd overall. Amt improved five strokes in the final round, carding rounds of
80 and 75.
Tomas Carvajal finished
tied for 64th with a
167 after shooting
84 and 83, while
Nolan Allen placed
tied for 68th with rounds of
86 and 83 for a
169 total.
Josh Michael finished
tied for 71st at
170, improving by six strokes from the opening round with scores of
88 and 82.
Matt Pearison posted a
181 across the two rounds with scores of
92 and 89, and
Jordan Booth rounded out the
SMWC lineup with a
195 (102–93).
Rose-Hulman's Ryan Beerheide captured medalist honors with a
two-round total of 146 (72–74). Bridgewater claimed the team title with a
592, followed by Augustana (Ill.) at
613, while host Rose-Hulman and Wabash tied for third at
617.
SMWC will return to action
March 30–31 at the
Midway Eagle Invitational hosted by Midway University in
Versailles, Kentucky.
