TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team competed this weekend at the Great Lakes Intercollegiates, hosted at the Country Club of Terre Haute.
Playing on a par-71 layout with a team par of 284 per round (568 total), the Pomeroys' "A" team opened with a round of 317 and followed with a 296 in round two to finish with a 36-hole total of 613, placing 11th overall in the 15-team field.
John Amt led the way for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, finishing tied for fifth overall with rounds of 71 and 72 for a 36-hole total of 143.
Nolan Mishler finished tied for 31st with rounds of 74 and 76 (150), while
Nolan Allen placed tied for 61st with rounds of 76 and 84 (160).
Josh Michael finished tied for 68th with rounds of 75 and 87 (162), and
Tomas Carvajal placed tied for 74th with rounds of 81 and 85 (166).
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods also fielded a "B" team, which finished 15th overall with rounds of 344 and 323 for a total of 667.
Neal Jeffery led the B team with rounds of 84 and 75, finishing tied for 56th. Matt Pearison recorded rounds of 88 and 78 to place tied for 74th, while Carter Batin finished 76th with rounds of 87 and 82.
Adam Waters added rounds of 85 and 88 to finish 80th, and
Jordan Booth placed 82nd with rounds of 92 and 89 while competing as an individual.
Dubuque captured the team title at 6-under par, followed by Aurora A (3-under) and Rose-Hulman (+18) to round out the top three.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiates serves as an early-season test for the Pomeroys as they continue spring competition.
