TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's golf team holds the lead after the opening round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiates on Saturday.
The Pomeroys posted a team score of
332 on the par-72 layout to take a
15-stroke advantage over second-place John A. Logan heading into the final round.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods placed four golfers inside the top 15, led by
Renae Jaeger, who carded a
75 and sits
second overall after round one.
Brooklee Bussing followed closely with an
81, placing
third, while
Macie Shirk recorded an
86 to sit
ninth.
Bailey Barker rounded out the scoring with a
90, placing
tied for 14th.
Kristin Pagach also competed in the lineup for the Pomeroys and finished the opening round with a
102, placing
27th overall.
SMWC's consistent scoring across the lineup created separation from the field, with Hanover and Anderson tied for third and Danville rounding out the standings.
The Pomeroys will look to maintain their momentum and close out the tournament on Sunday.
