SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's basketball dropped a River States Conference matchup to Kentucky Christian University, 72–58, on Friday evening inside the Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center.
The Pomeroys led 36–33 at halftime but were outscored 39–22 in the second half as Kentucky Christian pulled away down the stretch.
Mike Ajukwa led SMWC with 13 points and nine rebounds, while
Malachi Pearson added 10 points and seven boards.
Taray Howell chipped in seven points, and
Terrance Hill contributed six points and three assists off the bench.
SMWC shot 31.9 percent (22-of-69) from the field and 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from three-point range. The Pomeroys held a rebounding edge, 42–37, but struggled offensively in the second half, shooting 21.6 percent from the floor.
Kentucky Christian was paced by
LeMar Northington II with 18 points and nine rebounds, while
Jayden Loydd added 17 points and seven assists. The Knights shot 51.8 percent from the field and controlled the paint with 36 points inside.
SMWC moves to 9–11 overall and 3–5 in River States Conference play.
