DANIELS, W.Va. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College golf team opened play at the River States Conference Fall Preview on Monday with a team score of 327, placing the Pomeroys in 10th after the first round at The Resort at Glade Springs.
Indiana University East set the pace with a tournament-best 288 to lead the 11-team field, followed by Midway (294) and West Virginia Tech (296).
The Pomeroys were led by
John Amt, who shot a 79 in the opening round.
Neal Jeffery,
Nolan Allen and Matt Pearison each carded rounds of 82, while
Nolan Mishler added an 84 and
Tomas Carvajal recorded an 86.
SMWC sits ahead of Kentucky Christian (332) and trails Indiana University Kokomo (319) with one round remaining.
The tournament will conclude with the final round on Tuesday, Sept. 30, offering teams a chance to make final adjustments on the same course that will host the River States Conference Championship later this season.
