RICHMOND, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team delivered a strong showing at the IU-East Invitational, finishing third in the team standings with a two-day total of 578 (+2) at Highland Lake Golf Course.
Indiana University East claimed the team title with an impressive 555 (-21), while Vincennes University placed second at 564 (-12).
The Pomeroys were led by
John Amt, who fired a second-round 69 to climb into the top 10. His 73–69—142 (-2) secured a ninth-place finish overall.
Nolan Allen provided steady play with back-to-back rounds of 72, finishing at even-par 144 to tie for 10th place.
Camden Church surged on day two with a two-under 70, moving into a tie for 13th at 146 (+2).
Josh Michael carded 77–74—151 (+7) to share 22nd place, while Matt Pearison posted 72–80—152 (+8) to tie for 28th. Rounding out the lineup,
Neal Jeffery tied for 33rd at 153 (+9) with consistent rounds of 76 and 77.
The third-place team finish showcased the depth of SMWC's roster, with three Pomeroys placing inside the top 15 individually.
The Pomeroys return to action on September 2–3 when they travel to Boyne Falls, Mich., to compete in the Lawrence Tech Invitational at Boyne Mountain Resort's Alpine Course.
