WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College sprint football team is championship-bound once again. The Pomeroys (7–0) rolled to a 41–14 victory over Bellarmine University (3–5) in the Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) Playoff Semifinal on Saturday afternoon at Jay Barrett Field, earning their fourth consecutive trip to the MSFL Championship Game.
SMWC will host the 2025 MSFL Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 3 p.m. (ET) at Jay Barrett Field in West Terre Haute, Indiana, against the winner of the other semifinal between Midway University and Calumet College of St. Joseph. The Pomeroys will aim for their second MSFL title in four seasons, having last captured the championship in 2022.
Pomeroys Strike Early
SMWC wasted no time setting the tone behind a balanced offensive attack.
Derron Hazzard capped a 69-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run, and quarterback
Jeremiah Tosky followed later in the first quarter with a 5-yard scoring strike to
Xander Hunt for a 14–0 lead.
Bellarmine found the end zone late in the second quarter on a 10-yard run from Brenden Reid, but the Pomeroys' defense held firm the rest of the way, limiting the Knights to just one more score over the final 30 minutes.
Second-Half Surge
After halftime, SMWC took complete control.
Patrick Perea muscled his way in for a 2-yard touchdown to finish an 85-yard drive, and Tosky connected again with Hazzard for a 4-yard touchdown pass to stretch the lead to 28–7.
Hazzard continued his standout day with a 3-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter, giving him three total scores.
Zy'Eiar White added a 15-yard touchdown run to close out the 41–14 win.

- QB Jeremiah Tosky: 13-of-21 passing for 167 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs
- RB Derron Hazzard: 11 carries for 33 yards, 2 rushing TDs, 1 reception for 4 yards and 1 receiving TD
- RB Zy'Eiar White: 8 carries for 73 yards and 1 TD (long of 38 yards)
- WR Xander Hunt: 3 receptions for 53 yards and 1 TD
- WR Kyle Vernelson: 3 receptions for 66 yards
SMWC totaled 350 yards of offense, including 169 on the ground, and scored on six of seven red-zone possessions.
Defensive and Special Teams Leaders
Adonimi Parker led the defensive charge with 10 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1 interception, and 2 quarterback hurries.
Holtman Doades added 7 tackles and a pick, while
Tyler Young recorded 5 solo stops and a pass breakup. On special teams,
Byran Simmons delivered a 70-yard punt return to set up another scoring drive for the Pomeroys.
Looking Ahead
With the win, SMWC will look to win for its second MSFL Championship in four seasons and looks to cap a perfect season in front of its home crowd.
