SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – A dominant offensive performance and overwhelming depth lifted the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's basketball team to a
97–67 victory over visiting East-West University on Monday night inside the Knoerle Center. The win moves the Pomeroys to
4–2 on the season.
SMWC's bench erupted for
57 points, highlighted by a pair of electric performances from
Christopher Owens (19 points) and
Stanley Harley (17 points). The Pomeroys controlled the game inside and out, shooting
46.6% from the field,
40.9% from three-point range, and piling up a
62–40 advantage in points in the paint.
The Pomeroys seized momentum early, closing the first half on a burst to take a
46–35 lead into the break. SMWC's defensive pressure and transition attack continued to wear down the Phantoms, leading to
35 points off turnovers and
26 fast-break points on the night.
SMWC also dominated the glass, outrebounding East-West
51–39, including
22 offensive rebounds that fueled
16 second-chance points.

East-West was led by
Josh Atwood, who posted a double-double with
18 points and 12 rebounds.
