WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – St. Mary-of-the-Woods College sprint football capped a perfect regular season with a 35-7 victory over Bellarmine University on Saturday afternoon at Jay Barrett Field, securing the
2025 Midwest Sprint Football League Regular Season Championship.
The Pomeroys (6-0) went unbeaten in MSFL regular-season play for the second consecutive season and will now host
Bellarmine (3-4) again next Saturday, November 8, in the
MSFL Semifinals at 3 p.m. (ET) at Jay Barrett Field. The MSFL Championship Game will be held November 15 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
Dominant Start and Balanced Performance
St. Mary-of-the-Woods jumped ahead early, taking a 14-0 first-quarter lead behind a 1-yard touchdown run by
Derron Hazzard and a
fumble recovery for a score by Bryton Suggs. Bellarmine responded in the second quarter with a short touchdown run by
Brenden Reid, but the Pomeroys' defense held firm the rest of the way.
Quarterback
Jeremiah Tosky led the offense with
177 passing yards and two touchdowns—one to
Kadin Matzke from 25 yards and another to
Kadin Witvoet from 7 yards out. The Pomeroys' special teams also made a major impact, as
Adonimi Parker returned a blocked punt 17 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, extending the lead to 28-7.
Kicker
Connor Wardlaw was a perfect 5-for-5 on extra points, continuing his consistent season.
