Pomeroys open with strong debut at Rose-Hulman Invite

The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men's cross country team took second to host Rose-Hulman and the women also finished as runner-up to the Engineers at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Friday night. 
Thomas Chapman took third overall with a 5,000-meter time of 16 minutes, 21 seconds. Chapman finished hundredths of a second behind Rose-Hulman's Joshua Pohle, the runner-up to winner Connor Del Carmen of Earlham. 
Alec Smith (17:28) followed in 11th, Nathan McIntyre (18:58) was 17th, Breden Heaton (19:01) was 18th and Jim Frye (20:30) took 22nd. 
SMWC edged third-place Earlham by a score of 71 to 74. Rose-Hulman posted a strong score of 24. 
On the women's side, Abbigael Coyle took third in a time of 20:47, while Brinlee McCloud (21:50) was fourth. Quinlan Teague (22:49) also cracked the Top 10 in seventh. Katelyn Braun (24:29) and Emma Lynch (25:34) rounded out the top five in 11th and 12th respectively.
