Rio Grande, Ohio — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's cross country team closed out its 2025 season with a seventh-place finish at the River States Conference Championships hosted by Rio Grande University on Saturday morning.
The Pomeroys were led by freshman
Rudy Bowman, who paced the team with a time of
28:21.1, finishing 51st overall. Fellow freshman
Nathan Odle followed close behind in
28:58.7, while
Jayden Hickenbotham clocked
29:26.1 to round out the top three for SMWC. Freshman
Elijah Williams crossed the line in
30:37.7, and sophomore
Jim Frye completed the scoring lineup in
31:00.2.
Host
Rio Grande captured the team championship with 38 points, followed by
Indiana East (42) and
Shawnee State (60) rounding out the top three.
The meet capped a developmental year for a young SMWC squad that featured four freshmen in its scoring five, setting the foundation for continued growth in the seasons ahead.
